Terms of Service

Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using the services provided by Marking Therapy, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you disagree with these terms, please refrain from using our services.

Services Provided

Marking Therapy offers counselling, hypnotherapy, civil and commercial mediation, and supervision services. All services are provided by Kingsley Ampomah Boateng, a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and an Accredited Member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (MNCPS).

Who the practice works with

Services are provided to adults aged 18 and over. The practice does not work with children or young people under 18. Everyone aged 18 or over is welcome, and the practice is affirmative of LGBTQIA+ clients and of gender, sexuality and relationship diverse clients.

Fees and Payment

Fees are published in full on the fees page and are confirmed in the booking form before you pay. Payment is taken at the time of booking unless something different has been agreed in advance.

Cancellation Policy

Appointments must be booked and paid for at least 5 days in advance. Cancellations and rescheduling require at least 48 hours’ notice. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours’ notice, and missed appointments, are charged at the full session fee. In exceptional circumstances, such as a medical emergency, discretion may be exercised, and where an appointment has to be cancelled by the practice you will be given as much notice as possible and offered an alternative appointment.

Confidentiality

All client information and session details are confidential and will not be disclosed to third parties without your consent, except in cases where disclosure is required by law or to prevent harm.

Insurance and EAP Cover

Marking Therapy is currently recognised by Allianz, Aviva, Vitality and WPA. Recognition is verified through Healthcode, and enquiries about other insurers or employee assistance programmes are welcome. Please confirm your cover, any authorisation required, and any excess or co-payment with your insurer before booking, as you remain responsible for fees your insurer does not pay.

Supervision

Supervision services are available for therapists and counsellors, including individual and group sessions. Group supervision is conducted via Zoom once a month.

Limitation of Liability

While Marking Therapy strives to provide the highest quality of service, we are not liable for any outcomes, loss, or damages resulting from using our services. Clients are responsible for their own decisions and actions.

Where sessions take place

Sessions are held by secure video, by telephone, or in person in South Shields. Where an in-person appointment is booked, the venue and its full address are confirmed by email once the booking is made. The postal address given on this website is for correspondence only.

If you are unhappy with any part of the service, please raise it directly in the first instance so that it can be looked at and put right wherever possible. You may also contact the professional bodies with which the practice is registered, the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS).
