Marking Therapy is a recognised provider for Aviva, offering counselling and therapy to adults in South Shields and online across the UK. If your health insurance with Aviva includes cover for counselling or psychological therapy, you may be able to use it towards your sessions with us.
Who is covered
Cover varies by policy. Many Aviva plans include a number of therapy sessions, sometimes after an initial assessment or a GP referral. The surest way to know what you are entitled to is to check your policy documents or call Aviva directly.
How to check your policy
Before your first session, contact Aviva to confirm your therapy benefit and ask whether you need a referral or pre-authorisation. If they approve treatment, they will usually give you an authorisation or claim number and confirm how many sessions are covered.
How billing works
We bill through Healthcode, the secure system UK insurers use for practitioner claims. Where your policy and authorisation allow, we can invoice Aviva directly using your authorisation number. If direct billing is not available on your plan, we provide a detailed receipt so you can claim the cost back from Aviva yourself.
Sessions and fees
Sessions are 45 minutes, in person in South Shields or online by secure video or telephone. Our self-pay fees are on the fees page; where Aviva covers your sessions, the fee is handled through your policy as above.
How to start
Get in touch or book an initial consultation, with your Aviva membership details and any authorisation number to hand. If you are unsure whether you are covered, we are happy to talk it through first.
Common questions
Do I need a GP referral?
It depends on your Aviva policy. Some plans let you self-refer; others ask for a GP referral or a call to Aviva first. Check your policy or call Aviva to be sure.
Will you bill Aviva directly?
Where your policy and authorisation allow, yes, through Healthcode. If not, we provide a receipt so you can claim it back.
What is covered?
That depends on your individual plan. Aviva can tell you how many sessions and what type of therapy your policy includes.
Is online therapy covered?
Many insurers cover online therapy on the same basis as in person, but confirm this with Aviva, as it varies by policy.
