Online Counselling / Therapy
Online therapy at Marking Therapy is counselling by secure video or telephone: the same therapist, the same way of working, without the journey. Sessions are 45 minutes and you book them exactly as you would an in person session. Most research on remote therapy relates to sessions by video, where studies suggest outcomes can be comparable with meeting in person for many common concerns. The evidence base for telephone counselling is smaller, though it supports telephone work for some difficulties. Video and telephone are not interchangeable, so we discuss which suits you before starting. Some find it easier to talk from their own space; others value the flexibility around work, caring or health. If we ever feel something would be better face to face, we can talk about that openly. What you need: a private space, a phone or a device with a camera, and a reasonable connection. A secure link is sent before each session; nothing to install. If the connection drops, the therapist calls you and the session carries on or is rearranged without fuss. Privacy at home matters: headphones help, and it is fine to pause if someone comes in. Sessions are held from a private room, and no session is ever recorded. The Online and Telephone Sessions: How They Work page sets out the platform, privacy at both ends, the address and emergency contact asked for at the first session, what happens if the connection fails, and what is not suitable online. Fees: the Initial Consultation is 45 minutes at £75. Online sessions are 45 minutes at £80, by live video or by phone, and online couples counselling is £100 for a full hour. Online therapy suits adults who want to work consistently with the same therapist, with the flexibility to attend sessions from a private, comfortable space: people with full diaries who use the evening appointments, available seven days a week; people who feel more able to talk from their own space; and people whose circumstances change, since you can switch between video, telephone and face to face sessions at any point without changing therapist.
