Fees for Counselling, Therapy & Supervision in South Shields

Marking Therapy provides counselling, therapy, hypnotherapy, clinical supervision and civil & commercial mediation in South Shields and online across the UK. The fees below are per session, so you know what a session costs before you book. There are no hidden charges and no registration fee. Home-based sessions are £100, which reflects the therapist travelling to your location.

Most people begin with an Initial Consultation. It lasts 45 minutes, costs £75, and gives us the chance to talk through what has brought you here and agree the right way forward together.

Session fees

Sessions start on the hour, so a 45 minute appointment booked for 10:00 finishes at 10:45 and the next appointment begins at 11:00. Couples sessions run for a full hour, and clinical supervision runs for 45, 60 or 90 minutes depending on the option you book.

Civil & Commercial Mediation

For disputes valued at under £50,000, mediation is offered under the Fixed Fee Mediation Scheme, so the cost is known in advance. The fees below are per party and exclude VAT. Sessions of two hours or less are normally held by telephone or video.

Both parties need to agree to mediate, and it helps if that has been agreed before you approach a mediator. If you are disputing a money claim of £10,000 or less, the court will tell you that you must attend its free mediation appointment. For larger claims the court may still offer mediation. That court service is separate from the private mediation described here, and there is a fee to issue a claim form. Consumers in disputes about goods or services should also be given the details of an approved Alternative Dispute Resolution body by the trader. Disputes above £50,000, or matters that fall outside the scheme, are quoted individually - send a short outline and you will receive a written quote before anything is agreed.

Cancellation Policy

To protect appointment availability for all clients:

• Sessions must be booked and paid for at least 5 days in advance.
• If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give at least 48 hours’ notice.
• Cancellations made with less than 48 hours’ notice, or missed appointments, are charged at the full session fee.
• In exceptional circumstances, such as a medical emergency, discretion may be exercised.
• If I need to cancel your appointment, I will give as much notice as possible and offer an alternative appointment where available.

Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) referrals

If you have been referred through your employer’s Employee Assistance Programme, your sessions are arranged and funded by your employer or their EAP provider, so there is nothing for you to pay. Please mention your referral when you make contact and it will be set up for you.

Private health insurance

Marking Therapy is recognised by Allianz, Aviva, Vitality and WPA, and that recognition is verified through Healthcode. Please confirm your cover, any authorisation your insurer requires, and any excess or co-payment with them before you book, as you remain responsible for any fee your insurer does not pay. Booking and payment

Every session can be booked through the online booking system, which shows the length and the fee as you make your choice, so the cost is confirmed before you finish booking.
