Fees for Counselling, Hypnotherapy, Supervision and Mediation in South Shields

Marking Therapy provides counselling, therapy, hypnotherapy, clinical supervision and civil, commercial and community mediation in South Shields and remotely across the UK. The fees below are per session, so you know what a session costs before you book. There are no hidden charges and no registration fee.

The first step depends on the service. New counselling and hypnotherapy clients begin with an Initial Consultation, which is required before a full session can be booked. It lasts 45 minutes and costs £75.00, and it is where we talk through what has brought you here and agree the way forward together. The free 10-minute introductory call is a telephone call: Kingsley rings you at the booked time on the number you give when you book. The Initial Consultation is held by video, and you receive a Microsoft Teams link; if you would rather speak by telephone, let Kingsley know beforehand and he will call you. Walk and talk sessions can be booked after either the Initial Consultation or the free introductory call. Couples begin with a joint one-hour session at £100.00. New supervisees begin with the free 10-minute introductory call, and the first supervision session, of 45, 60 or 90 minutes, is then arranged with them. Mediation begins with an enquiry, and a written quote follows.

Counselling, couples and hypnotherapy

Home based sessions are £100.00, which covers travel to your own location within 10 miles of South Shields.

Walk and talk sessions are £100.00, which covers travel to an agreed outdoor meeting point within 10 miles of South Shields. In extreme weather they move to secure video or telephone at the same time, and the fee stays the same.

Sessions start on the hour, so a 45 minute appointment booked for 10:00 finishes at 10:45 and the next appointment begins at 11:00. Couples sessions run for a full hour.

Clinical supervision for counsellors

Clinical supervision runs for 45, 60 or 90 minutes depending on the option you book.

The monthly group supervision is free. It is a remote group, held by video, in which Kingsley supports fellow therapists and counsellors in private practice, it meets on the last Saturday of each month from 19:00 to 20:00, UK time, and it runs alongside, rather than instead of, one to one supervision. Because it is open to qualified, practising clinicians only, joining starts with a short application form, and Kingsley checks each application against the professional body’s public register and lets you know by email whether it has been approved. Civil, Commercial and Community Mediation

For disputes valued at under £50,000, mediation is offered under the Fixed Fee Mediation Scheme, so the cost is known in advance.

• The fees below are per party.
• Marking Therapy is not registered for VAT, so no VAT is added.
• Sessions of two hours or less are normally held by telephone or video.
• An amount in dispute that falls exactly on a band boundary is quoted in the lower band.

Disputes above £50,000, or matters that fall outside the scheme, are quoted individually. Send a short outline and you will receive a written quote before anything is agreed. Community mediation, between neighbours and within communities, is quoted in the same way.

Cancellation Policy

To protect appointment availability for all clients:

• Sessions must be booked and paid for at least 5 days in advance.
• If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give at least 48 hours’ notice.
• Cancellations made with less than 48 hours’ notice, or missed appointments, are charged at the full session fee.
• In exceptional circumstances, such as a medical emergency, discretion may be exercised.
• If Marking Therapy needs to cancel your appointment, you are given as much notice as possible and offered an alternative appointment where available.

Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) referrals

If you have been referred through your employer’s Employee Assistance Programme, your sessions are arranged and funded by your employer or their EAP provider. There is nothing for you to pay. Please mention the referral when you make contact and it will be set up for you.

Private health insurance

Marking Therapy is recognised by Allianz, Aviva, Vitality and WPA, and that recognition is verified through Healthcode. Before you book, please confirm your cover with your insurer, along with any authorisation it requires and any excess or co-payment. You remain responsible for any fee your insurer does not pay. Enquiries about other insurers are welcome.
