Remote Therapy and Counselling
Remote therapy is counselling by secure video or telephone, with the same therapist and the same way of working as in person, without the travel.
At a glance
- How: live video or telephone, from anywhere in the UK
- Sessions: 45 minutes, booked online like any session
- When: seven days a week, including evenings, starting on the hour
- Fees: Initial Consultation £75.00, sessions £80.00, couples counselling by video £100.00 for a full hour. All fees
- Therapist: Kingsley, from your first session to your last
Who it suits
- People with full diaries who use the evening appointments
- People who find it easier to talk from their own space
- People who need flexibility around work, caring or health
What you need
- A private space where you will not be overheard; headphones help.
- A phone, or a device with a camera, and a reasonably steady connection.
- Nothing to install: a secure link is sent before each session.
How sessions work
- The approach is the same integrative one used in person: person-centred, CBT-informed, solution-focused and mindfulness-based, shaped around you.
- Sessions are held from a private room, and no session is ever recorded.
- At the first session you are asked for your address and an emergency contact.
- It is fine to pause if someone comes into the room.
- If the connection drops, Kingsley calls you and the session carries on or is rearranged.
- You can switch between video, telephone and face to face sessions at any point without changing therapist.
Video or telephone
Most research on remote therapy concerns video, and studies suggest outcomes can be comparable with meeting in person for many common concerns. The evidence for telephone counselling is smaller, though it supports telephone work for some difficulties.
We agree together which suits you before starting. If face to face would be better for you, we can talk about that openly.
The Remote Therapy and Counselling: How Video and Telephone Sessions Work page covers the platform, privacy at both ends and what is not suitable for remote sessions.
